Microsoft Internet Keyboard Not Found

When I plug in my keyboard it double beeps instead of the single sound made when XP recognizes a plug in device. I have loaded and unloaded drivers and it looks like it can see the keyboard, but it does not work. I gave the keyboard to someone else who has a Compaq Laptop and it worked just fine. I use the USB ports all the time without issue.

Does anyone know why I get the double beep, or something I can try?
