My Computer is shutting down with no warning, and i have to wait about ten minutes before i can turn it back on??? whats the problem???

For some reason ill be using my inspirion 5100 laptop and it will suddenly shutdown usually when i am running a few programs at once, but nothign that uses more than 40 percent of the computers memory at once..... Does anyone know the cause of a coomputer just shutting down on its own then, having to wait a wihle before turing it back on???

Heat.  Boot to the Dell Drivers and Utilities cd and run the fan diagnostics.

Yes, the problem is of course heat.  And the overheating is most likely caused by either a bad fan, OR dust........yes, dust.

Download i8kfangui to monitor your temperatures and control your fans. Set them to turn on at a lower temperature.
