My Dell XPS 13 is buzzing

I have just purchased an i7 8gb RAM 256gm SSD Dell XPS 13 ultrabook.  I really like it apart from one thing which, if I can't resolve it, will force me to return it to dell and ask for my money back.  Any time I play music or watch a film the sound, when at a certain frequency, causes a very annoying buzzing/vibration noise to come from the back left hand side of the keyboard.  Pretty much where the power button is.

Is this a common problem with these laptops or is the one I have received faulty?  It is a very expensive machine so I am not just going to put up with it.  I have played about with the many various audio setting (not that I should have to) to try and eliminate the buzzing but to no avail.  It's like a certain frequency of sound causes a slight vibration.  It makes watching films or playing music unbearable.

Any information anyone could offer on this would be greatly apprecieated

Hi cmack1981,

Sorry about the experience so far.

I recommend you flash BIOS to the latest version, and update chipset and Audio drivers in the order given below:

BIOS: http://dell.to/Z1oMwb

Chipset: http://dell.to/Y9Qqcl

Audio: http://dell.to/147pPxq

Note: While flashing BIOS connect the Ac adapter and make sure the battery has minimum 15% charge as this needs uninterrupted power supply. Do not use the system till it restarts and comes up to the desktop.  Restart the system after each installation. The links provided above are for XPS L322X. Please let me know if you have a different XPS 13.

Please check if there is buzzing sound after drivers update and reply to this post for further assistance.

I'm having the same problem of speaker vibration. I did update the sequence you indicated but in vain. Any other tips before I call Dell to return the pretty XPS13?
