Orange Battery Light

Hello,

I have an Inspiron 6000. The battery light (far right of the three) is flashing from green to orange. The battery is fully charged. The light does not flash when the notebook is running on AC power with no battery inserted. Nor does it flash when it is running on battery power alone. Occasionally the screen will flicker as well. What might be the cause of these two, likely related, issues?

Thanks in advance

The first, third, and fifth lights blink green. The second and fourth LEDs do not come on at all. Based on your response, I assume the battery will need to be replaced. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance

that's usually an indication of a failing battery.

try pressing the battery test button on the battery and see what comes up.

ideally you should see 5 green leds light up with a fully charged good battery.

if any of the leds blink or is red then the battery is bad.

Very well. Thanks to both of you for your assistance.

The flashing lights tell you that one or more cells in the battery is faulty - yes, you will need a new one.
