Problems with the battery of Dell Inspiron 1501

I have purchased a notebook, Dell Inspiron 1501, which has 3 years warranty (for the battery, I guess it is only for 12 months).
Before the OS loads completely, the following message occurs:

Warning: This battery cannot be identified.
This system will be unable to charge this battery.
Press any key to continue
Press 2 times to enter SETUP
Press and Any Key to enter Boot Menu
When I press any key, the system starts normally, and the battery will be charged.
On some other forums, there is the solution to update the BIOS. If it will not work, could the battery be replaced, taking into consideration the fact that the system is still under warranty ?
Thank you,

Ioana

What version Bios are you using? Version 2.6.3 is suppose to fix this. I have Version 2.6.2, and I'm not having this problem.

Go to drivers and downloads.

Enter your Service tag number there. It will give you a list of updates, Bios, chipset drivers, etc. At least update the bios, chipset drivers and system utilities.

See if this works.

Also after you install and restart your computer, look in the device manager and see if you have any yellow exclamination marks.
