Studio 1535 Never Have Had Any Sound....Hope Some Day I Will
I purchased a Studio 1535 from the Outlet and when I got it, it never had sound. Called tech support and the ran through all the usual stuff and then I had some on the headphones for a little while. The tech said the speakers must not be hooked up, they sented me a boxed and told me to ship it back and they would fix it. Next day no sound at all. Well then my father got ill and after a long illness he passed and I had to take care of my mother. They live in FL I live in NC so the computer got a back seat until the warranty ran out. Now I don't have a computer that doesn't have any sound at all and I don't think it is the speakers. Any help?

Hello. Try the tips in The "No Audio" Symptom FAQ, particularly do the Dell Diagnostics audio tests.
If you reply please give the name of your operating system.

I have upgraded to Windows 7 in hopes that that would help.

Make sure that you have the IDT audio driver installed. This is the driver. If it is installed then when you go to the Control Panel>Sounds properties you will see the words IDT High Definition Audio Codec.
When it is installed then play an audio file from your hard drive and listen for audio both from the speakers and through headphones.
If no luck then install the generic audio driver as described in section 6 of the Audio Driver Facts FAQ.
If no audio then there is probably a hardware problem which you can confirm by running the Dell Diagnostics audio tests or by returning the computer to the original factory configuration. Actually, returning the computer to the original factory configuration is the easiest way to either fix the problem or to confirm that it is a hardware problem, but you can't return to the original factory configuration if you wiped all of the partitions on the hard drive when you installed 7.
