Touchpad scrolling doesn't work on inspiron 1525 with Windows 7 64 bit

Hi,

I have inspiron 1525 and Windows 7 64 bit

Since I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 I can't scroll with my touchpad.

I tried to install the driver for Vista 32 bit (as the compatibility instructions for Windows 7 say) but when I execute setup.exe, it tells me that "This software does not work with your operating system".

Thanks for help

I solved this issue this way:

I read this post: http://www.kombitz.com/2010/01/27/alps-touchpad-driver-for-windows-7

It suggested to install this driver from dell support:

http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R227995&formatcnt=1&libid=0&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=327208

This is actually a driver for Dell Vostro according to its description but it worked fine for me.

Apparently the Inspiron 1525 touchpad manufacturer is APLS after all. I tried to install the Synaptycs driver before this one, but it didn't make my touchpad work correctly.

I would expect from dell support to put the Windows 7 driver (the Vostro one) in the Inspiron 1525 page so that anyone can find it.

Thanks anyway

Hi,

I'm also having the same problem with the Windows 7 64-bit, with the same exact Inspiron 1525.  I used to have Windows Vista, then upgraded to Windows 7.  My touchpad won't scroll and I'm getting so aggravated I can't stand myself.  Whatever information you have I would certainly appreciate it.  My email is: <ADMIN NOTE :Email id removed per privacy policy>.

Thank you very much, and God bless you.
