Universal Chargers
I have a Dell Inspiron 1526. My charger died so I bought a universal charger. The computer will run on the charger but it won't charge the battery.
Is this something that is common with Dell. I get a bootup message that the charger is unkown.
Anyone know what is up with this?

It's very common with many notebooks, not just Dells. The manufacturer's charger has a circuit inside that completes the battery charger circuit.
If you want to charge the battery, you will need a Dell adapter.
