Vostro 1710 laptop audio sounds like it's coming from a tin can...

The audio on my new Vostro 1710 laptop sounds like it's coming from a tin can.  I have the current drivers.  There are no visable advanced options under the sound controls.  My other laptop is a Inspiron 9300 and it has awesome sound. 

Any suggestions?
