That's a Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Card (Tri-mode 802.11a/b/g)

Look at the intel site for drivers

The intel driver set seems to have a flaw in low signal conditions.

In all it works ok

As much as I like Intel, I find the pro set software is too much "in your face". If you find this the case also, you can go to add remove programs in the control panel, find the intel proset, I think you click on uninstall or update... not sure which. You will get a listing, edit the designators to the left of each listing so they show and "X " except for the drivers then click continue. Then reboot ,  once back in windows  go to the network applet in control panel, right click your wireless card, click properties, select the middle tab wireless, check the box "let windows configure your network" do not do anything else, click ok or apply close,  use the icon in the icon tray to view wireless networks or go back into the network aplet...also make sure the box is checked " show network in notification area when connected"
