Hi jb3962,
Welcome to the Community,
On XPS 12 the memory (RAM) is part of the system board.Since memory is part of the system board, it cannot be upgraded as a separate module.

I definitely wished I had known this before purchasing this product. Yikes! Beware buyers - you will exceed RAM capabilities of this machine quickly and will have no option to upgrade. Wow.... Profane word removed as per TOU>

If anything in this system except the SSD fails (i.e., the RAM, GPU or CPU), the entire mainboard muset be replaced.
