Signal inputs for the tv should be:

TV

AV

COMP1

COMP2

RGB

HDMI1

HDMI2

You should have these input signals. If you do not have RGB try COMP1 or 2

When you hook the laptop to tv,you need to change the tv's input to RGB.

You said you were using component cables to the tv from laptop right?

If you are the set input to input 1 or 2.

The only way it will work with HDMI1 or 2 is if you connect from laptop HDMI port to tv HDMI port.

Thanks for your help. I guess this tv will not support a pc. My laptop has the s video output and so does the tv but it will not see the signal when i hook them up. I opened media center and it didnt even see my tv tuner. Im just lost.

Please post the date and version of the video driver that is currently installed on your XPS M140. Assuming your operating system is Windows XP, you can find this information through Device manager as follows:

To open Device Manager, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Double-click System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

Click the expand square beside Display adapters and right-click the adapter description. Choose Properties and click the Driver tab to find the Driver Date and the Driver Version.

Dell has four versions of the Intel Graphics video driver for XPS M140 available for download. The date of the version that is installed on your XPS M140 is different from the date on each of the four Dell authorized drivers. Therefore I suggest that you download and install the latest authorized driver dated 11/27/2006, version 6.14.10.4693, A09 for Intel 915GM using this link.

Then after connecting the laptop to the TV with a standard S-video to S-video cable reboot the laptop.

Ok i updated the driver and rebooted the laptop. I then hooked up the s video cable 2 the laptop and 2 the input one one the tv. I then rebooted the laptop again. Still no change. I tried hitting fn f8 again to change the view but still no signal

Try connecting to another TV with an S-video input. If the laptop can't detect the TV on boot up then the system board is probably defective.
