XPS M1710 - how to middle-click with the touchpad?
So I'm working through tutorials for a program, and they keep saying to middle click on this or that. On the XPS M1710 I have, there's the touch pad and 2 buttons. Is there some combination of keys &/or buttons that will provide the same functionality as a middle-click?
Thanks!

;^) I can't speak for the 1710, but with my 1210 and the correct drivers, pressing both trackpad buttons at once is supposed to correspond to using a middle button. Give it a try, and let us know how it works.

f oIf you have updated to the latest version of Synaptics driver, there is a registry entry missing, which enables the virtual 3rd mouse button (feature to press both buttons to simulate a middle click).
If you add this entry to your registry the "Middle Button Action" will be visible.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Defaults]
"HasBothButtonFeature"=dword:00000001
If you add this entry to your registry, you can chose the action for the middle click in the control panel:
