XPS15 9530 daily crashing after Windows 10

I'm fighting this for 3 months since I've upgraded to Windows 10 64 bits from Win 8.1 that was working brilliantly. Unfortunately, Sound drivers are lacking basic features such as equaliser, microphone wasn't working any longer in Win10 - you had to literarly shout as loud as possible so that the other person on the line to hear anything - if any at all.

Nevertheless, Though I'm checking dailiy for new drivers for Intel 4600 video card on Dell website, though new version is available on Intel, on Dell's website it's still dating 16th of Sept 2015.

Since Last crash was showing, I've downloaded latest Dell Foundation Services which fails to install.

Honestly, for a machine that costed over $2000, it's incredible how slow the dev. of drivers are available for Win 10 which is now out for few months. I cannot believe that manufactors simply can discard such an important product updates as XPS 15 - which is still the flagship of laptops at the moment.

Everything was working smoothly, brilliantly and incredibly well in Win 8.1, so I'm confident there are no hardware issues but software - need all drivers updated in Win 10 to same versions that were in Win 8.1.

For all others, do Not upgrade to Win 10 if you have an XPS15/9530 no matther what others or Microsoft say.

Latest video drivers used such as:

9530_Video_Driver_7FRD7_WN32_10.18.15.4271_A02.EXE

Version 10.18.15.4271,A02

9530_Video_Driver_7GFMG_WN32_10.18.13.5354_A01.EXE

Version 10.18.13.5354,A01

Audio:

Realtek High Definition Audio ALC3661 Driver

9530_Audio_Driver_Y6K5Y_WN32_6.0.1.7610_A01.EXE

Version 6.0.1.7610,A01

In case anyone would ever bother to get this reported to R&D (dev.) team, here are the details for the Intel Video driver issue:

Driver Management concluded the process to install driver kt108500.inf_amd64_f1e1486049a3f80f\kt108500.inf for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0416&SUBSYS_05FE1028&REV_06\3&11583659&0&10 with the following status: 0x0

Uninstalling, restarting and re-installing - does not improve things.

Also, microphone is 10 times less sensitive with the Win 10 drivers who are missing Equilizer and direction focuscing for mic. i.e. win 10 drivers look as if 2 or 3 version primar/older win 8.1 versions.

Long story short - I had only headaches since upgrading to Win 10 - for your sake, if anyone's else got a XPS 15 9530, do stick/remian with Win 8.1 - it works like a charm and it's an amazing machine. Upgrading it to Win 10, as of now - stlil over 6 months after, the drivers are a pain - if any.

@Pianist,

I've the same your problem.

About audio card I solved installing an old driver for windows 8.1 with Maxxaudio Pro. This go well for now.

For video card I've installed the same your driver from Dell web site. Intel video card continuously crashed. I haven't any solution for now.

After switching to Windows 10, you will have to use Intel display drivers;

downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Intel-HD-Graphics-4600-for-4th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors

Intel Wifi, and Intel Bluetooth drivers;

downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-N-7260

I had system crashes that would disappear using another router, there is something wrong with the OEM WIFI drivers.  You might not notice it until you take your laptop to a coffee shop or hotel and it crashes.

Disable Intel Smart Connect in the Bios, it is not supported in Windows 10.

Nvidia is also offering updated notebook drivers in lieu of OEM, you might as well use their drivers.

Otherwise you will have an unstable system that will crash everyday.

fyi,

latest 2 drivers for video card both nvidia and intel for 9530 or XPS 15 are Not signed by Dell, so, for security reasons - doubt how many would try them.

There is another thread on the video crashing here:

en.community.dell.com/.../19658452

The work-around has been to install the beta drivers linked in that thread from Intel.  I can confirm that it has stopped the crashing.
