anyone install samsung 850 evo 250gb in 3542 laptop?
has anyone installed a Samsung 850 EVO in a dell 3542. ive seen older posts on net where people were unsuccessful. going crazy researching this drive. and if u did get it installed. was it WOW thats so much faster?

Whether you can use one depends on which version of the system you have.
One version has a Celeron CPU (N30xx) and an embedded 32G eMMC drive - this one CANNOT be upgraded to a 2.5" EVO SSD.
The higher line model has an i3 CPU and comes with a 500 G hard drive. That model CAN be upgraded to a 2.5" EVO SSD.
Yes, the EVO will be immensely faster than a conventional hard drive.

yes i got the i3 with 1Tb drive. some people in the past had problems getting it to work on their 3542. thx for the reply
