how to reset overcharged battery !!

my laptop inspiron 5548, has an overcharged battery
i kept my laptop plugged in for about 6 hours and now the laptop does not pick up the chargerthe charger does not even appear plugged in in the bios

now this is not the first time this has happened this has happened first time i contacted the dell support the guy sent an engineer and he just removed the battery and then inserted it again it worked like a wonder
.

i want to ask if there is a way to reset the battery without having to open the chasis and removing the battery

please respond fast as i dont have much battery life left..................

Hi,

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.

  1. Switch off the computer.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
  3. Remove the battery from the computer.
  4. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to switch on the system.

If the AC adapter is not detected in the BIOS then it should be a faulty adapter or faulty connecting unit on the system board.
