laptop screen

can someone tell me why my laptop screen loses its brigthness when the power plug is removed. the battery is full charged ,but the screen gets dim and you can hardly see it. thanks

whughes,

 It is a way to save the battery.   you can make the screen brighter by using a keyboard command. You will find this info in your setup guide.

....or by changing your power scheme. But the laptop will not run as long on battery power.

also ,why i asked this question is, when my power cord is plugged in, you have to wiggle it a certain way for the screen to stay bright. is the power cord ens wearing out or is it the pin inside the computer. im no tech wizard but i do know the outside of the plug and the inner prong are power and nutral and you need both to complete the circuit. so i need to buy a new power suppy cord?

It could be a faulty adapter - if a new one doesn't fix the problem, then it's a faulty power jack (i.e., mainboard).
