Capture Log Files for Troubleshooting - Dell ImageAssist

If you have issues during the image capture or restore process - while in the Dell DIA USB PE environment, here is how to capture log files and screenshots for troubleshooting:

  • F9 – captures a screenshot and creates a jpg immediately
  • F8 – zips the log files and pictures and allows you to put them in a location you choose
Here are some other log locations that are helpful for troubleshooting issues from the OS layer.
Log file location
Location of ImageAssist logs.
Log location before Setup can access the drive.
Log location when Setup rolls back in the event of a fatal error.
Log location of Setup actions after disk configuration.
Used to log Plug and Play device installations.
Location of log minidumps from bug checks.
Location of Sysprep logs.
