Inspiron 3650, i5 CPU upgrade?
Is there any way I could upgrade the CPU in my Dell Inspiron 3650 without the need of a new power supply? The i3-6100 is not very good, if there is any way I could squeeze an i5 in there that would be sick. Links and pointers would be appreciated.

As usual, the users gave good advice. I can add the Dell validated/tested i7 and i5 CPU's and part numbers for the Inspiron 3650 =
J4CPH i7-6700 Skylake-S, 3.40GHz, 65w, 8MB, FSB 1600MHz
1GXR3 i5-6400 Skylake-S, 2.70GHz, 65w, 6MB, FSB 1600MHz
69J7M i5-6400 Skylake-S, 2.70GHz, 65w, 6MB, FSB 1600MHz
By the way, the service tag number you gave to the bot was invalid? Check the label again and send it to me via private message.

is there a problem, is yes tell it first.
tell what is slow doing what and prove what is the bottle neck,
PCs do 10,000 things, some slow some fast, name one slow thing.
I bet you need SSD drive is that It?
this PC is a mini tower.
to upgrade any PC we:
1: make sure the MOBO can handle the CPU TPD wattage you dream of. CPU model , data sheet answers that.
2: makes sure the BIOS can handle it. (the bios pages only say upgraded microcode so is (useless reading )
3: then the chipset, must allow it. H110 it is gen 6, and shows i3/i5 and i7 support in your data sheet. (read it)
4: the chip now is intel generation 6, so stick with that gen.
5:and last not me but DELLS recommendations.
Intel® Core™ i7-6970HQ Processor
have you first prices out skylake CPU @$500+, I bet you change your mind or learn the real bottle neck first.
try SSD first. see if you like that. if not already there IDK.

Pretty much everything is slow, but especially games. For the most part, I get playable framerates. Nothing too special in most games, maybe around 60-100. The gpu (a 1050ti) usage is normally around 40-60 while the cpu usage is always at 100. To my understanding, this indicates the cpu is bottlenecking the gpu. I have tried many things to take the load off of the cpu, such as maybe raising or lowering settings in-game, things like that. Nothing has really worked. I understand that this pc does not ship as a "gaming pc", but if I could squeeze some extra performance out of it I would be thrilled. I was planning on picking up an SSD anyways, but I don't know if that would speed much up except load times, textures, and other things like that. I certainly don't think that would replace 2 more cores but I'm no expert. I'm fine with building a new system and importing my 1050ti over to that if it would be less expensive, but if a new processor will do the trick I think that would be a much cheaper alternative.

And you probably will want to update BIOS to the latest version before swapping CPUs, in case Dell added support for any additional 6th Gen CPUs along the way. But keep in mind that there's always a risk a BIOS update will fail and brick the motherboard. So read/follow BIOS update instructions carefully, and you update BIOS at your own risk.
And you may have to reinstall Windows so be sure all your personal files are backed up on external media before you swap CPUs.

Do you happen to know if the Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake Processor 4.0GHz 8.0GT/s 8MB LGA 1151 CPU, OEM will work as well? I honestly do not know the differences between this model and the J4CPH i7-6700 Skylake-S, 3.40GHz, 65w, 8MB, FSB 1600MHz model mentioned.

As someone with the i5 version of this computer, how on earth did you power the 1050ti? I have a 1050 in mine, but this has me lost. If I could power a 6-pin GPU I'd be set once I upgraded to the supported i7 model.
