Inspiron 3670, GTX 1050 Ti, card size

Hello, so my question is I ordered the 3670 Inspirion i5-8400 optane memory version. If I purchase the MSI Geforce GTX 1050 ti, does it matter what size it is? For example, a single fan or double fan one. I dont know the exact measurements because I'm still waiting for the 3670 to arrive. Or is it a universal size and any one will fit in the slot. I'm only asking because Amazon is offering this in different sizes. Some models have 1 fan and some models have 2. I dont want to purchase the wrong one. Someone please help?

Thanks for your response Mary. I found a solution as I spoke with a Dell Sales Expert. You are right about most graphics cards not fitting in the 3670, however I did find one that perfectly fits which is a low profile GTX 1050 ti 4 gb. No additional PSU is needed even though recommended being the performance peaks at a max of 75 watts in which I don't plan on overclocking. The second link you posted, the person noted a few cards that would also fit. That low profile card is also listed under the compatible ones. I did a bit of research, with the sales rep and they informed me that the card should be no longer than 182mm. I found one for a reasonable price that will fit into the slot perfectly. I appreciate your help.

Do not order any video card until you get the computer. You should know that the 3670 cannot be easily upgraded. It has a small proprietary power supply (less than 300w) that is hard to replace. It most likely cannot run the card you are considering since it requires a min 300w psu. Also the case measurements must be considered. A large card will not fit. Notice that you cannot order a separate video card when customizing. The only option is the integrated video Intel 630.

1050 AND 1050TI ARE 75W CARDS and require the optional 365w power supply instead of the 290W.

NON DELL cards will require secure boot off Legacy option roms on.

I have an Asus Geforce GTX 1050 TI dual fan and it fits perfectly, lots of room to spare (its a dual slot size), plugs right in and does not require any additional connectors (only motherboard power needed). Now for the bad news, I have disabled everything that was listed in a previous response, uninstalled the onboard video and still can't get the motherboard to recognize the card. The power unit is a 290W unit. Do I need to upgrade to the 365W brick? I've always built my own computers for 30 years and finally decided to get a pre-made to actually save time and money. Ha!

If I upgrade the PSU to 365w, would the gtx 1060 6gb short PCIe card work as well, or is it just the 3gb for some reason?

6 gig SHORT cards work fine but SECURE BOOT must be OFF and CSM ON for NON DELL OEM cards.

When installing an after-market graphics card into a Windows PC with UEFI secure boot enabled, the system may not boot.  This is true for ANY PC not just Dell.

the UEFI TANGOO dance. (hussle. or hassel)

I contacted ATI/AMD,  (doing Nvidia next)

and they said, to me,. yesterday.

that all the new cards are UNIFIED now, the new cards run legacy./CSM/UEFI ,USING NEW firmware auto mode, no more switches(so call hybrid switch on card, is now gone)

and the auto mode works now, any legacy PCs 99% like Ivory soap.

old cards not so will or DOA on legacy.  (sure upgrade the PCs firmware first, sure)

some cards have VBIOS upgrades, most don't from actual maker, their card.

so the answer in all cases buy only new cards, GPU.. ok?

but his is new PC and new card so is not an issue.

but I post this here from this hit.

"legacy GPU cards fail to work in modern enabled UEFI PCs') or the reverse."

keep in mind vast sellers of cards even sell used or  what they call refurbs. that are 2 or more years old.

Refurbs = dust off only or are customer rejects, then resold, BUYER BE WARE.

buy from newegg or bestbuy brick and mortar.

the ATI maker told this too, buy from place where exchanges are easy.

wise person there,  and some PCs are have bad main mobo BIOS. this is a fact..

best answer is here.(buy card LAST ! this is the correct answer)

the reason Is simple, NO PC MADE HAS specs on slot space 100% complete or even accurate.

why is that,? well that is easy there are 100s of cards sold by 10 makers, (its not one maker ok?)
2 fans, 1 fan, long /short cards front to rear, and low 2 kinds of low profile, 79mm and 120mm and full height ATX then there is WIDTH that causes trouble on MANY PCs.  3 dimensions of trouble is REAL, 3D.

it's like asking what 2 door coup cars fit my 1car garage, (there is no answer) not really.(buy a ruler?)

too many makers of  coups. ok?

buy the PC then make your own measurements. based on YOUR OPTIONS inside, or plans for them !!!

also some cards are so fat the x1 PCI-e SLOT (MOBO) is blocked, is that ok with you?

1050 cards, 75watt max versions are best. but so many kinds made and no 2 same and changing like the wind.

every 6months who knows what is made and sold, IDK? (know that cooling demands are not the same on all cards made ok)

Nvidia, Asus, Gigabyte,MSI, EVGA,PNY, ZOTAC (mine) ,and more, if you really look, more.

Many true makers, have no accurate 3D drawings of the card, so the buyer can see what it is before.

some do some don't.

it must FIT and NOT HIT.

here is list (generic hits)

hits, HDD cage. (even my MT hits 3020 PC)

hits, front panel jack cable conn, had to forgo  that feature.

hits SATA ports had to buy 90deg. adaptors. or cables with.

hits DVD drive, (nah only PSU hits that and DVD is dodo bird status. now.

hits ram. (or almost or or does because you have super good fast ram with large HS spreaders on them. oops.

just a  list to show how many PCs , things hit  and SFF tops the lists (or USFF)

  • Not Hit and fits.
  • does not overload the PSU, (vast will) the 1060 will.
  • drivers that work for you OS.
  • cooling issues, complex on some PCs and some cards, that burn 300watts (generic answer)

the secureboot

and UEFI

the video card is married to the mobo. (using this magic)

so if a  thief tries to gain access to a stolen PC, he finds 3 or more things blocking him.

and one thing is HIM tricking the PC into thinking a new GPU card is ok, but is not.

this is by design of the UEFI committee,,, that and lots more.

TPM chip , locks. (boot blocks, BIOS hacking)

MS secure boot code , will not allow you to simply turn off secure boot, and boot, sorry that door is CLOSED.

best of all is  installing  w10-64bit fresh with any PC ; that is secure boot enabled. now.

even consider, using CSM mode,  yes, for those doing say lots of GPU card change outs, now or in 1year or more, you know?, folks that are gaming or doing Computer modeling or doing huge video rendering or doing that lame thing, called BITCOINN-mining (jokes on you) thing?

use CSM mode., in main PC bios. and then play all you want.

if you only do dangerous things , use Secureboot, (the masses will)

Older cards do not support Legacy or MSDOS VESA Mode 103.

Therefore R series cards with UEFI bios require newer systems.

So the 99 percent working now is false.

MSDOS  AX register is 0x004F after each VESA call

INT 0x10, AX=0x4F02, BX=mode, ES:DI=CRTCInfoBlock

INT 10 and INT 13  msdos BIOS calls are not supported in UEFI.

UEFI 3UEFI 3NO legacy NO DOS NO VESANO legacy NO DOS NO VESA

R series CARDS DO NOT WORK AT ALL in older Dell models. Nvidia cards up to and including GTX 1080 TI work fine in 2006 and later Dell models.

There is a user who put a 1080TI into a 2006 XPS 400 DELL.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa9b0TkTsLM

Newer RTX series from NVIDIA do not work at all in older Dell models.

Newer hardware from AMD, NVIDIA, INTEL, QuallComm,  ARM, etc is

windows 10 only,  64 bit only,  UEFI GPT only.

Class 3 bios has NO CSM.

Thanks for your answer. i bought the gigabyte 1050ti and found the performance was poor. So I upgraded the power supply to a Dell 365 watts and performance is now good.
