Inspiron 5477 AIO, two external monitors?

Just got a Dell Inspiron 5477 AIO. It has one HDMI In port and one HDMI Out port.  So I have a 2nd external monitor hooked up and working. But how can I get a 3rd external monitor working? I have read you can do it through USB or the Type C cable but not exactly sure how?

Just make sure the USB3 video dongle supports your version of Windows and also supports the "native" (= "optimum" or "recommended") resolution for the monitor you'll connect to it.

So i got my adapter in,  drivers installed and the monitor worked for about a few min then wigged out and went blank. Have not been able to get it to work since.  It still shows its working, still shows the monitor in display settings but its not sending anything to the screen itself now

Tried un installing drivers and re install, tried different 3.0 port but still no luck

If you swap external monitor #1 with external monitor #2, does #2 work when connected to the HDMI-Out port on the AIO? And if you connect #1 to the USB3 dongle, does it work?

In other words, is this a monitor failure or a dongle failure...?

But have you ruled out the dongle itself? Can you test this dongle on some other PC or a laptop with one of your monitors? If the monitor/dongle pair don't work on another PC, then the dongle failed...

If that dongle/monitor pair work on some other PC, then you may have a motherboard failure. In this case, contact Dell tech support ASAP since your system is new and should be under warranty.

Tried multiple USB ports and monitors with no luck so seems like the unit is just bad. Strange it worked for a few min

Shouldn't matter. The USB3 dongle should be backward compatible with a USB2 port but video performance will be better when a USB3 video dongle is connected to a USB3 port. Note: You probably will have to load the dongle's driver on that other PC for this test.

At this point, all we want to know is if the dongle works at all or not...

Whew! Glad it's not the PC.

Guess you'll have to return the dongle and get a replacement and/or get a different brand.

EDIT: BTW, Was the test using a USB3 or USB2 port?
