Inspiron 5477 AIO, two external monitors?

Jump to solution

Just got a Dell Inspiron 5477 AIO. It has one HDMI In port and one HDMI Out port.  So I have a 2nd external monitor hooked up and working. But how can I get a 3rd external monitor working? I have read you can do it through USB or the Type C cable but not exactly sure how?

Just make sure the USB3 video dongle supports your version of Windows and also supports the "native" (= "optimum" or "recommended") resolution for the monitor you'll connect to it.

Thank you for the link, is there any special program i have to run to utilize that 3.0 port for a monitor or just a plug and play? @speedstep

NEVER seen a device that DOES NOT need drivers.

No such thing as Plug and Play USB video.

So i got my adapter in,  drivers installed and the monitor worked for about a few min then wigged out and went blank. Have not been able to get it to work since.  It still shows its working, still shows the monitor in display settings but its not sending anything to the screen itself now

Tried un installing drivers and re install, tried different 3.0 port but still no luck

If you swap external monitor #1 with external monitor #2, does #2 work when connected to the HDMI-Out port on the AIO? And if you connect #1 to the USB3 dongle, does it work?

In other words, is this a monitor failure or a dongle failure...?
