Inspiron 570, exact motherboard name or specifications

Hello,

I have run tests with programs and nothing shows me what exact MoBo I have in my Inspiron 570 MT.  I do not want to buy Dell refurbished RAM.  I want to upgrade the RAM to 8GB 4x2GB (cheaply) and a seller asked for my MoBo specs but I can't find it.  Can anyone tell me how to find this information ?  Dell replaced my MB twice so it may not be the specs listed online.  If you ask me about the processors that I can find.  Tell me what you need to determine what it is so I can tell him.  I could even show you his link (if allowed) to see if it would work in this thing.  Thanks in advance.

You have an Inspiron 570 mainboard;  there is no retail equivalent or other name for it.

If your seller can't find the correct RAM, it's here:

or use a memory configurator from Kingston, Corsair or one of the other large memory manufacturers.

And upgrading to 8 GB (4x2 GB), assumes you're running a 64-bit version of Windows, since this PC could have come with the 32-bit version of either Vista or Win 7.

I listed the Dell memory specifications and told you that our memory would work.

The Dell validated 2GB memory sticks for the 2012 Inspiron 570 Wistron motherboard 4GJJT are below;
G8NT0 = 2GB,1333MHz,128x64,Unbuffered,DDR3,240pin,Single Rank,1.5v,Non-ECC
Y996D = 2GB,1067MHz,256X64,Unbuffered,DDR3,240pin,Dual Rank,1.5v,Non-ECC

You are asking if non-tested retail memory will work. We cannot know this because we did not test their retail memory.

I was asking about specifications of the other stuff I picked out.  That's all I wanted to know.  This is an antique computer and I'm not willing to pay that much to upgrade it.  I just wanted to give it a cheap boost.  I built my last XP computer all with parts I all picked out online and never had a problem.  They were not tested by anyone but me and worked.  I found 8GB of RAM with the specs I gave for under $36 total.  That's all about what I'm willing to pay.  Thanks for answering back so quickly though.

As Chris said, nobody can say for certain because sometimes RAM with exactly the right specs for the PC won't work, especially if it's an "off-brand" of RAM with no performance guarantee. So you'll have to answer these questions for yourself...

  • Will the increase in RAM give you the performance improvement you want/expect?
  • Are you willing to risk $36?
  • Will the seller take it back at no cost to you if it doesn't work?

Good luck with whichever decision you make.

Will they take it back if it doesn't work ?  Yeah, it's eBay I have a 6 month guaranty.  I ask all kinds of questions before I buy so if it doesn't work when they say it would I automatically get a refund.  I've had wonderful luck with them.  I just opened up my PC and took out the RAM.  I think it's Dual Rank.  That's mostly the thing I needed to find out.

So I'm wondering if it's dual rank than I can only run 1067MHz and not 1333MHz ?  That's what I need to know.  I have 1 GB, 1067MHz of dual rank in my slots now.  Crucial website doesn't specify this part so there's nothing to compare.  I go all over for the specs.

I don't think rank has anything to do with RAM speed.

The specs for the 570 say DDR3-1066 but Crucial is selling DDR3-1600 RAM for this model, and guarantees it will work. That may not mean RAM will actually run at 1600 MHz, but -more likely- it  will simply clock down to the max speed allowed by the AMD chipset in your PC, or to the max speed of the slowest RAM installed, if you install module pairs with different speeds.

When I buy I want 4 sticks of RAM all the same speed so then I'll see what I can find.  Thanks for explaining that.
