Hi
I have a 6 year old Dell Inspiron 3847 and the motherboard just died on me.
I've swapped out the RAM, GPU, and PSU during the past year and I'm wondering how to go about swapping the motherboard.
What kind of motherboard is compatible with my CPU?
What kind should I get?
I figure I may aswell get a better processor while I'm at it since its pretty much a new computer at this point.
Because of all the Dell proprietary items, including non standard and undocumented front panel connections, non standard motherboard screw mounting, rear motherboard I/O panel built into the case, etc, only another 3847 motherboard will fit and work. If you want to use a different motherboard and other parts buy a new ATX standard case.
