2 hard drives at once?

I have an Inspiron 7560, i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD (in M.2 slot).

Can I also add a SSD into the 2.5" hard drive bay and use both?

Re: 2 hard drives at once?

You can but need to order the Interposer. The forum post below has the information.

Re: 2 hard drives at once?

Hi again

The part from the link to the other post isn't recognised on the Dell site or google!

Maybe its now discontinued?

is this the correct part?;

Re: 2 hard drives at once?

In the meantime i rang Dell sales and got put through to someone.

They told me to email them with what I need and have just got back a reply...

Turns out it's actually a company called upgrade, and the part will cost £25 +£10 delivery PLUS VAT!!!!

That's £42 all together!!!

Hopefully get a reply on here with an ebay alternative as £42 seems way too expensive!!

Re: 2 hard drives at once?

Out of curiosity, I opened up the laptop and it appears the cable is present! (under the yellow tape)

Re: 2 hard drives at once?

Slightly different question but related.

I would like to add the HDD but what is the spec. for the drive.
From what I can find:

  • 2.5 inch
  • 7mm height
  • SATA 6Gb

What capacity size is supported by the 7560? 1TB, 2TB?

Would something like this work be supported?
Seagate 2 TB BarraCuda 2.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive (5400 RPM, 128 MB Cache, SATA 6Gb/s, Up to 140 MB/s, Model: ST2000LMZ15/LM015)

Re: 2 hard drives at once?

You are lucky. The cable and bracket are both there so all you need is an HDD or SSD and the screws to attach the bracket.

Re: 2 hard drives at once?

This chart from the 7560 support page. However Crucial offers and guarantees 100% compatibility with up to a 2 TB SSD. So the Seagate should work without a problem.

Storage

Your computer supports one of the following configurations:
  • One 2.5-inch hard drive
  • One M.2 solid-state drive
  • One M.2 solid-state drive and one 2.5-inch hard drive
