Are there any risks to connecting a laptop cooler that draws power from the laptop's usb port to the laptop itself?

I got a laptop cooling pad and it's connected to the usb port a Dell G3, was just wondering if there was any risk to the electronics, performance, or any component of the laptop.  Is it better to have the cooling pad draw power from a powered USB hub instead or is it not really necessary?

Yes, I do leave it plugged in all the time, I do keep unused slots turned off, and I plug all my electronics into a UPS. I live in the deep south and we have plenty of thunderstorms so even my TV, Monitor and accessories are protected by UPS I haven't noticed any heating of any of the components. The first one I bought I really tested it hard with 4 external hard drive and 1 external M.2 NVME SSD I also had the Coolmaster U3 with 3 fans running and my Logitech wireless bud running my mouse. With all drive transferring large 100 GB data transfers between themselves and my computer writing to the SSD. I could not get it to hick up, not one lock up or Hard drive dropping off. This was running off my only Type A USB 3.1 socket on my 7386

I've never had an issue with this. however, with my 7386 having only 2 USB 3.1 ports, I do use a 7 port powered hub This particular one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G8CMR18/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My G752VY runs the laptop cooler with 2 140cm fans off one of my left hand USB 3.0 ports with no issues.

The little bit of power used by the 3 fans in my Coolmaster U3 would not overload any USB 2 port much less a 3 or 3.1

How long have you had the laptop cooler and how long on average do you use on a daily/weekly basis?

Also, a few questions about the powered usb hub (below):

do you leave it plugged all the time?

is it connected to a power strip or UPS?

does the ac adapter or any part of the hub get hot or is always cool to the touch regardless of how long you use it?

is the plug for the usb hub UL or ETL certified?

Thanks for the replies.

Thank you for answering my questions so thoroughly and the pic as well.  What make/model UPS do you use?  And do you know anything about the Sabrent powered 4-port USB hub HB-UMP3 or any Sabrent products and their reliability they seem to have a ton of good reviews so just wondering.  Thanks again.

I only use APC UPS https://www.amazon.com/APC-Battery-Protector-Back-UPS-BE600M1/dp/B01FWAZEIU/ref=sxin_3_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-YXBjIHVwcw%3D%3D-ac_d_rm&crid=3DP97W9OUH7S4&keywords=apc+ups&pd_rd_i=B01FWAZEIU&pd_rd_r=33001941-9b28-4dda-9b2b-954ba3083645&pd_rd_w=I0I8K&pd_rd_wg=E7dxO&pf_rd_p=d29bc9bc-49e2-46b8-bc05-387917c341ec&pf_rd_r=5NA39EY62HJ6C7GYDWSS&qid=1569354145&s=gateway&sprefix=APC+UPS%2Caps%2C164

I have no idea about Sabrent.  before I found that Dlink made the best 2.0 hubs then with USB 3.0 Anker seems to have the best now with 3.1 the Atolla is the only one I found that can hand 4 External hard drive and 1 external SSD all running heavy loads at the same time. without any hiccups. I all you need is a port for our thumb drive and mouse bud lightweight stuff like that I would imagine just about any hub would do. I just hate having a data transfer lock up my computer or drop off in the middle of a large data transfer.

I guess the deal is many USB hubs are for charging your cell phone and tablet thumb drive maybe 1 external hare drive etc and some are USB 3.1 for data transfers. For me, if it doesn't say its good for 10 GB transfer speed I'm not interested. These hubs are not created equal and as time goes by the lower speed rated hubs will be sold out or listed for charging only and all the manufactures will get on the same page with the standards for USB 3.1https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_3.0
