Can Dell Inspiron 13 7000 (7378) support 1TB M.2 SATA III?

I saw in another post, that this model only supports 128/256/512 GB.  Has anyone confirmed that it doesn't support 1 TB or larger capacities?  I am just wondering if the size limitation was set by the available SATA III M.2 capacities at the time, and it will actually handle any capacity SATA III M.2.

I made the mistake of buying a NVMe M.2 card and didn't realize the Inspiron 13 7000 (7378) only supports SATA III M.2 cards, not NVMe PCIe M.2 cards.

I would like to buy a 1TB M.2 SATA III card since they are down to a good price at the moment, but don't want to pull the trigger if it won't support it.

What Dell states is they tested the model up to 512GB. I asked IT people  about the same issue. Yes, is their answer. He even said ip to 4 TB should be OK as the processor is 8th generation. I plan to install 1TB M.2 SSD.

A 1tb Crucial M.2 SATA SSD drive will not work in my Inspiron 13 7378. I cloned the 256 drive, installed the new 1tb drive and the machine will not access the new drive or even read it.

This reply is rather late for the subject matter, but according to Crucial.com, this 1TB M.2 SSD drive (CT1000MX500SSD4) is compatible with Dell Inspiron 7378 for $115.

And, you're right; the NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (or this one https://www.adorama.com/ctc1000p1ssd.html?origterm=ct1000+p1ssd8&searchredirect=true ) doesn't work for Dell 7378.  I did make that mistake.

Can 7378 support two drives? There is a second connection for HHD right behind the m2 connector. Assume that you will need to purchase the correct cable. It appears other dell laptops have this same connector so should be able to use their cable to connect to a 2.5 inch drive. Due to space limitations, nave have to remove the SSD from it case so it fits in the open space.

With some dells, you have to have the replacement SSD in the SSD-0 slot The Inspiron 15R-5520's are like that. Cloning will not copy the MBR to the new/2nd SSD/HDD. I had to put the original HDD in when the Optical Drive goes, then put the new/larger SSD in from the bottom where the port is on the motherboard.

Sometimes it's easier just to save all your data files over to a flash drive, or a usb, then do a clean install using either a Dell Reinstallation Disc, or Bootable USB..

Hi, if you look on Amazon, there is a few sellers who have Dell Inspiron HDD/SSD Cables that go from the connector on the motherboard to the SSD. The connector is there for a reason. All I know is once I make contact with that seller, I'll buy the $12.00 cable, (The one with the same amount of Pin/Connectors), at the motherboard end. Plus it's free returns if it doesn't work. I highly doubt it'll mess up the Notebook, it will either not show it, or tell you it will not work with this model.... If I get the cable, I'll post if it worked for me or if it didn't work for me. Either way, it'll be here in the forum.... It's the 18th of January, 21....
