Dell 7706 2in1 - force modern standby to hibernate after a defined time (Windows 10)

Hi,

I have issues with modern standby (who has not?) and tried to set a time that the system hibernates. Also I deactivated the network connection on standby. I set it with gpedit but I have the issue that Windows 11 ignores it.

I like to send my Dell after 1 hours standby (without network connection,...) to hibernation. What can I do to achieve this? Set it like it is described here:

https://winbuzzer.com/2020/07/31/how-to-network-connectivity-in-modern-standby-on-or-off-in-windows-...

By the way I also set the energy setting to go to hibernation if the power switch is pressed but nothing happens. Is that correct?

Cheers Nils

Hi,

I fixed it with activation the hidden energy setting in Registry with setting "Attribues" to 2 under this tree: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings

Now I can change it directly and it will be handled fine. The shutdown will take after a defined time or if the threashold from modern standby is reached.

(It seems that there is a bug with hibernation and Dell Docks but I handle this in another post.

Adaptive Hibernate takes over if the Hibernate After setting is set to anything but zero/never. It will hibernate after X percentage of the battery is used by sleep, (typically 5) and you can change that instead to try to match your device's typical power usage in "modern" "sleep".
