Dell G5 5587 Windows 11 Upgrade

Dell says apparently my pc hasn't been win 11 tested, but Pc health check and whynotwin11 both say it's ready. Can I still upgrade? I also have a 1060 max q, so will the current drivers work with win 11?

If you have an 8th generation CPU or newer, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot then you will be compatible with Windows 11. As far as drivers are concerned, Windows 11 will install compatible drivers and NVidia is bound to release drivers once the Windows 11 reaches RTM. Not tested by Dell does not mean not compatible. Dell has appeared to restrict testing to the newest systems. Trust MS in this instance as they are the creators of the OS.

Curiously enough, this model is not on Dell's published list of Windows 11 compliant systems.

By all means - wait until the list is further updated and for the official release of Windows 11 -- there may be a reason why the system is not on Dell's tested and compatible list just yet.

Yes you can, just that „Dell“ is being greddy and kinda trash for not releasing „Optimised“ driver's for „Windows 11“ i suggest waiting for a bit, since „Windows 11“ is not very stable, thou you could try going to insider release preview, to prevent „GTX 1060-Max Q“ crashing, same with „Ryzen“, this is mainly because „Microsoft“ Rushed the launch date with many bugs.

i hope they will update the list, sadly they say if your laptop is not in that page will be not tested, and drivers will not be upgraded.

i think there will be no problem with this model and win 11, but considering the laptop is compatible for Microsoft, Dell could test it

I've tested W11 with the G5 5587. Sadly I had to revert bact to W10. System worked and was stable but I could not get the sound card's Jack pinout application to work on W11 (Maxx Audio pro jack).

I'm still a wired (3.5mm jack) headset user, so this feature was important to me.

An update to my previous comment: With the latest build all drivers provided by MS, even jack pin selection works.

All Ok for Win 11

@Gavoer
I have the same laptop, but has the 1050ti.

I see it tells me windows 11 22H2 is ready. I did upgrade to Windows 11 just after it launched, but I had issues with my display drivers. Everything installed successfully and was working, but my mouse was stuttering etc. I formated back to Windows 10. I so badly want to go over to windows 11 now. Currently I am running on bios version 1.21.0 from dell. I am using the latest geforece drivers from Nvidia, not from dell. My computer has no issues. Do you think I will be fine to go over now? Or do you suggest I stay on Windows 10?

I'm as much a user as you are but since 22h2 all my drivers got preinstalled with the update. Also all games run smooth on w11 for me too.

@Gavoer

Thats cwl. I might give it a try and upgrade tonight. They give you 10 days to roll back, so I will just monitor it before the 10 days are over
