Hi, i have a friend that is having a problem with his laptop. He powers it on and it gives 7 beeps and shows a screen that says "Flash update failed" "Flash image invalid or not found" "System will reset in 5 seconds".
I know on HP Laptops there is an option to copy the files to a USB Drive and hold the WIndows key + B to start a recovery of the BIOS.
Is there a similar thing with dell machines that can be done or does he need to replace his motherboard?
Seven beeps is a mainboard or CPU failure -- some Dell systems do support a BIOS recovery, but in this case, it sounds like the CPU or board is bad, and that's unlikely to work.
Tried this and does not work. Saddly is there any other way that we can recovery the BIOS of the machine? of it was a CPU problem how would it get to the BIOS of the machine?
You can try having a shop remove the BIOS chip, flash it externally and re-solder it -- but even that's not a guarantee if there's something else wrong with the board - or the CPU.
