G5 15-5587, fans keep turning ON and OFF every 10 seconds

As other people have noted, Dell broke something in their latest BIOS updates. It seems to affect more than the G5 model. Now, after the update to the latest BIOS, my fans keep going on and off even with 2-3% CPU utilization. Again, this is a problem others have, just search the internet. It is enough for me to open the Task Manager and fans go on. Move the Task Manager around, fans go on. Boot in BIOS and just sit there and look at the screen, fans go on (this is not a joke). "Well just downgrade your BIOS then", I would if Dell wouldn't make it impossible to downgrade for some reason. When I try to downgrade from 1.6.1 to 1.0.1 the boot screen with the mighty Dell logo tell me that BIOS downgrading is not possible ("BIOS update blocked due to unsupported downgrade"). I have BIOS downgrading enabled in the BIOS settings. This issue is so bad and evident that it even happens when I'm in the BIOS settings. With that simple UI, my fans go on and off every 10 seconds or so. In the BIOS UI. It is very annoying and distracting when trying to work, and I cannot get rid of it. DellCares can you please confirm that this issue is acknowledge by the Dell team and a new BIOS fix is coming to your customers or that the current BIOS updates will be modified to not lock people into a BROKEN BIOS updates so they can at least revert back to working versions. - Windows 10 Pro - DELL G5 5587

Re: G5 15-5587, fans keep turning ON and OFF every 10 second

For my notes, click my username and via private message send me the PC service tag number.

We can certainly log the case and notify the platform team of this thread. Will that prompt them to write a new BIOS, unknown. They would take your case and check all of the other G5 15-5587, G7 15-7588, Vostro 15-7580 cases to see if a trend as developed with BIOS 1.6.1.

1.6.1 for the G5 15-5587, G7 15-7588, Vostro 15-7580, added =
Enhancements:
- Enabled the Intel Smart Sound Technology feature.
- Added extra information under the Thunderbolt Auto Switch option in BIOS.

Under, "Important Information" on the 1.6.1 BIOS driver page it clearly states =

Re: G5 15-5587, fans keep turning ON and OFF every 10 second

I don't know in which BIOS DELL broke their fans. I upgraded from 1.0.1 to 1.6.1.

Here is some help for your team:

Will all the posts around the internet and these videos make DELL lose a few clients and a few $? unknown. The current ones are most probably lost tough.

Regarding your photo, I'm not sure what notes you see as a mod, here's what I see as a DELL day-to-day user who paid over $1000 for his laptop:

Please show me where the "WARNING IF YOU UPGRADE TO THIS VERSION YOU WILL HAVE BUGS AND YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH THEM BECAUSE WE DON'T LET YOU DOWNGRADE ANYMORE!"

I don't see that any warning there. It's also not shown when you hover over the red warnings.

On that page, click, "View full driver details", which takes you to the next page which shows =

Click "Important Information" which shows =
1.Once updated, BIOS cannot be downgraded to any version prior to 1.6.1.

Now I see why most people don't see that when they come to this page with the intention to download the driver.

Re: G5 15-5587, fans keep turning ON and OFF every 10 second

I have first Dell notebook - Dell G5 15 Gaming 5587 (N-5587-N2-713K) one month old. Same error occures - fans keep turning ON and OFF every 10 seconds after update BIOS. This is a very nagging mistake when working normally with a laptop. When this problem will be resolved?
