Grayed Out Bios On the Dell inspiron 3531

Solution! Hi, a few days ago I wanted to install windows XP on my dell Inspiron 15 3531. But when I tried changing the sata mode, the whole bios was grayed out, well everything except the bios and hard disk password.  Here are the specs:

Computer Model : Inspiron 3531
BIOS Vendor : Dell Inc.
BIOS Version : A03
BIOS Date : 7/30/14
Processor
Processor : Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N2830 @ 2.16GHz
Clock Speed : 2.2Ghz
L2 Cache Size : 1024
Disk Drives SanDisk SDSSDA120G ATA Device With Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

Any help would be appreciated

Hi, if you have the same problem, set a system password then reboot, then your bios will be back! Then you can remove your password if you would like

Dell does not support XP on this model and thus no XP device drivers are available.

I would reconsider XP.  Dell does support Win 7.

@fireberd Hi, I know that there is no drivers for windows XP and I just want to run it even if i don't have internet etc. but I am am able to run windows 98! Even if I can't run XP is there a way to enable the bios? Something worth mentioning is a recent hard drive upgrade to a SanDisk 120 GB SSD.

The BIOS and options is not available so I can't take a look at it, but on many Dells with a UEFI BIOS there is no option to run the Legacy BIOS mode, which XP needs.  GPT formatted discs won't work in XP either.

@fireberd Hi, my dell Inspiron laptop does have legacy boot mode but I still do need that bios for a lot of things
