Type DDR3L
Speed 1600 MHz
Configurations supported
  • 2 GB, and 4 GB (Inspiron 11–3168)

Crucial shows no memory upgrade for your model???

The best way to make sure is to remove the Base Cover and look for a slot???

U2 is right about Crucial. For some reason they do not show a memory upgrade. However Kingston shows 1 SODIMM slot with either 2 or 4 GB installed at the factory and a maximum of 8 GB could be installed (more at this page). Dell on the other hand only shows a maximum of 4 GB total. So it is a little confusing. Evidently the only way to know would be to install an 8 GB RAM module and find out. But make sure you purchase it from a retailer that allows returns.

 And note that only the Pentium version has a slot. I assume the other CPU versions had soldered memory. And that would account for the confusion. And this forum post elaborates on the versions. And there are posts from users that have installed 8 GB with success.

From the Dell 3168 support page.

@Torracat5678

There are other post of 8GB being successful.

For me to say yes I would need to test it myself,

I don't remember the 11-3168 but I can check my warehouse in the morning and see if I have one to test???

If I have one I'll let you know the results then.

Regards,

U2

NOTE:

If I do have one I hope it has the slot.

@Torracat5678

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

We only had 2 pallets that are 13" and smaller.

All I could find was 3135, 3147, 3152 and 3157's.

The warehouse techs still have 1000+- laptops to sort.

But I was able to go through them and only found the same models.

We do not get many models under 13"

I will continue to keep an eye out for a 3168 but for know no luck.

Regards,

U2
