Not relevant to your laptop I general, but I also tested things with my Inspiron 15 7570. I first tried to use a standard 5V 1A USB-C phone charger and nothing registered. Then I pumped it up a notch by using the 45W USB-C charger of the Razer Stealth. Surprisingly my laptop actually registered it. However a warning popped up on screen telling me that the power source was 45W, and that it recommended me to use a 65W charger instead. Else the laptop would charge slowly. My battery icon on the taskbar actually showed the charging icon as well.

Thorough write-up, thank you. Wonder why Dell can't/doesn't supply this info...!

Hello to everybody,

I hope to be helpful giving this information. I have tested with full success the Aukey charger https://www.aukey.com/products/amp-usb-c-wall-charger-with-power-delivery-3-0-pa-y10.

This charger is recognized correctly from Inspiron 7373 and can charge without warning and in fast way.

Just wanted to point out that the Intel 7th generation processor version of this laptop (Inspiron 13 7378) is also able to charge via USB-C. I am using a Nekteck USB Type C Wall Charger with Power Delivery (PD) purchased from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719KV9PH

I have updated the BIOS to the latest 1.25 version available before testing. Dell Diagnostics detects it as a 45W adapter. Pretty nice to have a charger that works with my Pixel 2 XL phone and laptop as well. =)

The system BIOS is for multiply models could that mean all model should support charging via USB-C?

I have a 7570 as well.  Great to here that it works.

Has anyone identified a 65W USB C PD charger that works?

fyi just tested today by chance the following dock:

HP Elite USB-C Docking Station Product Number T3V74UT

Specs of the Dock are:

Standalone power requirements
Normal Operating Voltage: 19.5V
Average Operating Power: 55 W
Max Operating Power: 62 W

When I reboot Dell BIOS tell me:

Product Name Inspiron 7573
System BIOS: 1.8.0
Service Tag: zzzzzzzz
ePSA: Build 4306.13 UEFI ROM

Alert! You have attached an undersized 40W power adapter to your system,
which is less than the recommended 45W power adapter. To continue operating
at peak performance, your system may also draw power from the battery. The
battery charges only when the power provided by the adapter is greater than the
needs of your system. Use a Dell 45W (or greater) power adapter to enable
charging during peak system performance.

Note: This warning can be disabled in BIOS setup.

So what happen it I very slowly lose battery like 1% over a day or less.

Yes, I still charge it with USB C. Though not often because the USB C charger I have is a 45W from a Razer Stealth. Hence I use the supplied barrel charger, as my Inspiron charges slowly with the USB C charger. Though a notification says that it will charge normally if I use a 65W charger.

My laptop hasn't had any problems so far, and it's already been over a year so I see no problems with the USB C PD.

I heard Nekteck has good 65W USB C PD chargers.

Just received a Hyper-Juice power bank (an Indiegogo crowd funded project).  It has a 100W output and comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable.  Just tried it on my Inspiron i5759-8835SLV Dell laptop;  I can affirm that it works.
