Inspiron 15-7567, Crucial P1 M.2 SSD not recognized

Hello,

I am upgrading my laptop for school. I have already added 32GB of RAM. I bought a m.2 ssd and put it in the empty slot. The one that I bought is this : https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07J2WBKXF/ref=twister_B07J5Q9CV6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1.

I have installed the ssd but it is not being recognized on windows. I wanted to know what I could do about that? I have been reading some stuff here and I think I have to put it in AHCI mode for it to be recognized but I am not sure. I do not want to do anything that would damage my laptop and that is why I am asking. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

OK, a couple of things. Do not change to AHCI in the BIOS or you will have to reinstall Windows. You can make that change within Windows. Also Windows will not see the drive until you go to Control Panel/Administrative tools/Computer Management/Disk Management and allocate the drive and format it.

I can't see it in disk management. Im glad i did not change the mode to ahci...

Edit: nvm I think the m.2 was a bit loose. it works now and I can see it in disk management. I am going to use acronis to clone my HDD. I wanted to know how I would make the m.2 ssd as my primary boot drive and leave the hdd as extra storage?
