When I press the power button, lights turn on but the screen remains black and the board beeps. 1 single persistant beep. I removed the battery and plugged in the ac, still 1 persistant beep. Removed HD, still 1 beep. Removed both sticks of ram, 2 beeps. Rotated each stick in each module, one of the sticks in one of the modules gives 4 beeps, all other configurations, still 1 beep. Is the board fried?
1 Beep usually means a BIOS ROM failure problem. Check the following page. Probably a bad main board. You could try removing the CMOS battery for 5 minutes and then reinstalling or replace the battery but I suspect it will be the main board.
