Inspiron 17 N7110 with 2560x1600 external monitor

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to run external monitor with 2560x1600 resolution? I have Nvidia graphic card GT525 - https://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-525m/features

And there is written that maximal resolution for this card is 2560x1600, however, today I connected it to such a monitor and it shows only 1920-1080 as native resolution. It is not a monitor or cable problem, because i tried it with my friends laptop and it found 2560x1600 as native resolution. How can I run it properly with such a resolution?

Best regards!

Assuming you're using the HDMI port on your Inspiron, if it's not working even though it works on another system, it's probably because the HDMI port on the N7110 uses an older revision that doesn't support 2560x1440.  Maximum resolution limitations involve much more than just the GPU.  It's also based on what port you're using, the specific revision of that port (e.g. HDMI 2.0 vs 1.4 vs 1.3), and the cable you're using.  You need at least HDMI 1.4 to use 2560x1600 at 60 Hz.
