So does a M.2 NVME work with this laptop then before i buy a M.2 SSD? The ones i am looking at has 5 pins on the SSD drive but the slot on the laptop has 4 is this an issue?
Yes, it works, the pins do not matter, just installed it a few weeks ago. To make it the boot drive I did a fresh install of Windows 10 x64. To do this you must go into the BIOS (F2) and disable your 2nd HDD or SDD, leaving only the 970 EVO as available before the Windows install. I also changed the option from RAID to ACHI in the BIOS (optional). After the install go back into the BIOS and enable all drives. The original boot drive must be reformatted to remove it from being an active boot drive.
I installed SSD Samsung 970 EVO PCIe NVMe V-NAND M.2 2280 250GB, but speed is not as advertised.
Read = 1833, write = 1521
Can you help me fix it?
In order to see the maximum speed, your system must be capable of GT4 operation - Inspiron systems are not. They're GT2 (power saving mode), meaning you'll see about half what the drive is capable of -- which is what you are seeing. So -- you're seeing the best you can do with an Inspiron system.
For GT4 mode, you need a newer XPS (9570), Alienware or Precision system - these will allow GT4 operation.
It's one of the trade-offs for a low cost system.
