Inspiron 7773 which m.2 ssd are compatible

Does anyone know which type of M.2 drive can be installed in an Inspiron 7773? SATA or NVME? How can I tell what will work? Dell documentation tells me it has an M.2 slot but doesn't tell what will work.

For example, I am considering some Samsung drives:

Samsung 970 EVO 250GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD
Samsung 860 EVO 250GB M.2 SATA

Hi Tim,

Looking at the service manual for this (I'm assuming the 17-7773) it looks like you can use an M-key M.2 drive (M-key indicating what the pin out is for the board). The socket from the manual looks like an M-key, but you'd need to investigate for sure by looking at the slot. Specifics can be found here:

There's also the length consideration, which I suspect is a 2280 form factor - again you'd need to look for sure.

I can't speak to the Samsung/Dell issue, but I'm generally just not a fan of Samsung from my personal experiences. SanDisk is a great brand, I like Corsair quite a bit (but I'm not sure their prices are justified if you aren't doing a lot of disk-heavy work), Crucial is pretty good too.

Hello,

That model only supports sata with a limit of 1TB however this limit means Dell did not test larger drives.

NVMe is not supported.

Also just a heads up the Samsung line of SSD's are known to have problems with some Dell laptops it is unclear why .
