Inspiron G3 15 3590, headphones not working, solved

I have had the issue of the headphones not working when plugged in. They will work ok if plugged in prior to booting up. After some messing about tonight I have found that:

unplug and plug in headphones - when the notification of something plugged in appears DO NOT click on OK.

Hover your mouse in the top right hand corner of the notification and click on the -right arrow -> this closes the notification and the headset works - this works for my Dell G3 15

There must be a bug somewhere in the software.
