Press Fn+F2 to turn on wireless if it is turned off. If the device still does not get switched on, open device manager-expand network adapter & check if the wireless card is listed or if there is an exclamation mark or unknown devices.

Is it possible that the internal antenna is dead\defective? All the troubleshooting points to the antenna not staying on..

Windows troubleshooting not helpful...it says turn the switch back on. Jeez, why didn't I think of that?
