Lag in PC

Hey guys 

I have been having lag in my laptop every since changing the hard drive and updating windows on my new hard drive. The laptop now starts lagging with every activity taken (watching videos, moving the mouse cursor, selecting applications, everything). I know that this is due to the display driver as when I disable the display driver the lag completely goes away. This never happened my previous hard drive which had Windows 10 already updated on it. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be? I've been searching online for solutions but to no avail
