OS reinstall issue

Dell Inspiron 11 (3000 series) issue:

I reset the laptop completely and was trying to set it up again. I got it new in 2017 or 2016 I can’t remember exactly when. It doesn’t have any issues and it doesn’t reset it just says that an update for the os needs to be installed and either it isn’t plugged in so it doesn’t work or the wifi isn’t connected. Running windows 10... how do I fix this issue and stop it from reoccurring?

Here is a link to the Dell reinstall procedures.

Look them over to see if you are doing the right steps.

I had to reinstall Windows (because Dell broke it with a dangerous update). Created an installation USB pen drive using this page https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
That's the original version (without all the software installed by Dell on new computers).

The process is easy, but I did this with assistance (over the phone) from a Dell rep (but would have done it myself, if the disk had been a simple SSD). Once the Windows was installed, we installed DellAssist, in order to get the correct drivers (I uninstalled DellAssist immediately, will check for updates "manually", lol, from time to time).

If you have any data from the previous install, you may want to get that data out first. (I backed up mine with a Linux distro from a live USB.)
