Processor extremely slow, I believe I have a lemon. Inspiron 5584 (15")
Hello guys,
I can't seem to be able to get any speed on that laptop. It takes forever to do anything.
In Windows Task's (see attached picture below) I see the processor is supposed to be an i5-8265U @ 1.60GHz
It does say base speed 1.80GHz. Really? Where are my 4 cores? How come?
While in reality, whatever I do the speed stays between 0.40GHz and 0.43GHz...it is ridiculous!
Any help will be appreciated.
PS: I already cleaned up everything. Even a total reset. I even boosted the RAM to 16GB.

Hello,
effectively it seems to be too slow
You really got 4 cores ( coeurs in french )
read : Cpu struck at 0.40 ghz i5 8th generation

Hello and thank you.
To my complete surprise, I turned the laptop on battery only and it did fly!
I immediately went to buy a new charger on line. I was using the wrong one I guess.

On another subject, I lost 4 of the bottom screws (cover). Are they maybe common to other models?
Can I order it anywhere on dell.com?

Not sure you can order on Dell web site
You can take dimensions on others wich fit the missing ones.
Then search on eBay or aliExpress you should find same ones
I dit it for an Asus laptop
