SSD UPGRADE dell 7559
Hello all,
I don't know much about SSD but just heard that they give a speed boost to the performance so I purchased the Crucial P1 500GB 3D NAND NVME PCIE N.2 SSD (CT500P1SSD8)
as in the link
so my laptop it dell inspiron (7559) i7 6700HQ with 8gb ram and 4 gb gpu.
and yes I searched only this type of slot is compatible with my laptops slot but after I purchased and inserted the SSD its perfectly placed in the slot only the thing is, it is not detected in bios and nor in disk management I don't know why if someone can really guide me out it would be helpful. and yeah the SSD I mention above it properly inserted to laptop I also tried updating bios still no solution.
even searched on YouTube for it but all are i5 processor and have slot similar to this[Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SATA M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-N6E250)]
but it is not supported for my laptop as they have 2 pin cuts and mine only have one.
thanks in advance,
JOcean

Samsung 860 EVO, WD BLUE SATA, Crucial MX 500. Also do a Google search for M.2 SATA.

Your system does not support NVMe. It will take only M.2 SATA drives.

Don't go by the number of notches. This web page may help. Also this page goes into more detail. A 2 notch SATA SSD will work in your single notch slot.

The Evo SATA drive you've already mentioned is one of them. Another:

Notice the SSD on this page. One of the notches lines up perfectly with the slot. The other notch does not have to line up with anything in the slot and for a SATA M.2 drive that is perfectly normal.
And again have a look at this page for more information and further confirmation.

Your laptop can use a "SATA" SSD. You bought a "NVME" SSD which is not compatible.
M.2 refers to the physical design. There are M.2 "SATA" drives and M.2 "NVME" drives (though M.2 SATA's are increasingly rare.) So, yes, while your SSD can physically fit, it's not compatible. Just get a 2.5" SATA SSD. They are abundant, cheap, and it's not a downgrade from the M.2 slot since they are both SATA.
