SSD in a notebook DELL Inspiron 5749

Hi,

I would like to update my DELL Inspiron 5749 with a SSD instead hard disk.

Can I replace the hard disk with an SSD or install one in the notebook? What kind of SSD does my DELL 5749 support?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Alex

Yes you can. Your system supports a 2.5" SSD SATA interface. A very easy swap. You can either clean install Windows or from the Dell support site, download the image to reinstall the drive back to the factory installation.

Clean Install Windows 10

Reinstall Windows 10 to the Dell factory image using recovery media

Since you already have an HDD, the bracket and cables are already in the system. Just remove the HDD and transfer the bracket from the HDD to the SSD. Then install the SSD and plug it into the cable. From there a matter of installing Windows.

This video shows the procedure to remove HDD, the rest of the tear down does not apply to your drive swap.
