Warranty issue: claim of liquid damage

I had returned my Inspiron, about 80 days old, to Dell for warranty repair.  The symptom was that the screen was blacking out.  The diagnosis was that the motherboard had to be replaced because of liquid  damage.  I never spilled anything on the keyboard,  so I don't know where that came from.  The depot is supposed to send me photos showing the damage. I don't doubt that a damaged motherboard would cause the symptoms I saw, but I can't see how it could have been damaged while in my possession.

I don't know where to go from here.  I could try to pick up a  motherboard on Ebay, or wait until I hear how much Dell wants to charge for the repair, or try to dispute the damage claim. Does anyone have experience with this situation?
