XMP Memory Modules and Inspiron 15-7590 Compatibility

Recently purchased an Inspiron 15-7590 and a set of Kingston DDR4 Impact XMP dual channel kit (16GB x2). When both modules are installed, the laptop would not turn on, and I also tried installing a single module in slot A or B, still no sign of life!

A quick search online showed that this compatibility issue has been discussed before with other Dell laptops.

Is this ever going to fixed via a BIOS upgrade?

Just upgraded from BIOS version 1.2.0 to version 1.4.0 ..... the Kingston D4-2666 Impact modules still don't work!!!

The LED on the side of the TB3 port blinks orange twice and white three times, and the blinking repeats itself till the system powers off on its own!

Upon reboot, a screen message says something like "Memory not detected on last boot" or something.

I did notice the memory module that came with the system has a spec of DDR4-2666 @ CL19  and the Kingston Impact modules I'm trying to upgrade has a spec of DDR4-2666 @ CL15.

Is the low memory latency not supported?

Just installed the Kingston Impact D4-2666 XMP memory modules into a friend's HP 15 laptop that has a Core i5-8250U CPU, the 32GB kit (16GB x2) booted into Windows 10 without a glitch!!!

DELL definitely needs to work on RAM compatibility issues!!!

Got a Kingston 8GB DDR4-2666 CL19 memory module and it works just fine ...

I reckon if XMP spec modules don't work, Dell should make a note of it in the user manual instead of just specifying the memory module capacities 8GB/ 16GB/ 64GB!

Or was there a memory module compatibility list that I missed ....

I have same problem with HyperX 32GB (2x16GB) 2666MHz CL15 Impact Black. Inspiron 7590 Core i7-9750H doesn't start, only LED blinking that indicated no memory

I'm searching for other RAM now. Does anybody know if for example this module will work fine?

@patryk92307

No, not really ...

Don't think DELL is keen on bringing XMP module support for our Inspiron laptops.

I just went with standard Kingston modules and they worked fine.

I sold my XMP modules to a colleague and installed them into his HP laptop running a i5-8250 and they worked right off the bat!

Could you send the specific link to the kingston RAM you bought? Thanks!

The Kingston module's make and part numbers are ...

DD4 2666 8G KCP426SS8/8

I bought my in Taiwan though, so I'm not sure if it's different in other parts of the world.

Please do check with a local dealer to confirm compatibility.

Unfortunately, I experienced the same issue.

Can anyone answer if they have tested inspiron 7590 with 32 GB memory and if it has worked what brand of memory works?

Thanks

Are you sure that this ram will run on Vostro 7590?

I'm sure the RAM you have linked will not run in a Vostro system.   When purchased from Crucial, you have a money back guarantee that the RAM will work.  If you decide to try anyway, be sure you understand your vendor's return/restocking policy and any fees you'll be responsible for, since you will be returning the memory when it does not work, should you purchase it.

That memory is not going to work correctly in a Vostro system.  The RAM timing is too aggressive - it's designed for systems with XMP support and the ability to adjust memory parameters.  Your system supports neither of those.

You need CL22 RAM, preferably tested to work in your system.

Here's one option:

There are other manufacturers that offer RAM certified to work as well.  Aggressively timed gaming RAM absolutely will not.
