unable to recognize battery - motherboard prob - again and again

A bit longer than a year ago the I had a message such as "system unable to recognize the battery". it turned out to be a prob with the motherboard which was replaced under warranty. My warranty expired soon after that and I tried to renew it but w/out success. I was never called back by the service support in France despite I had tried several times. A year later I get the same problem with the system unable to recognize the battery. I bet that even this time it is a prob with the motherboard since the symptoms are exactly the same... only that this time my warranty has expired.
Is it normal to have motherboards that last 1 year and then must be replaced? is it a standard prob with this product model? if this is the quality standards of Dell is it worthy to insist with this brand?
