y Replacing hdd in a studio 1749 with an ssd drive?
Can you replace your hdd on a studio 1749 laptop with an ssd? Sorry if this is the wrong board, would not allow me to choose studio laptop

Yes, a 2.5" SATA SSD will work - you won't see the full potential of the drive because of the old SATA interface, but it will still be faster than any spinning hard drive.
Bear in mind that this system is designed for a 9.5 mm hard drive - and SSDs are 7 mm or slimmer, so you may need a spacer to mount the SSD.
